Classy Germans Ease Past Ecuador

Maybe you would ask me why I put the tag 'classy' beside the Germans. But I think they deserve it not based only on this very match, but over the last 3 group matches, maybe not so for the one against Poland. But that match was a one off due to a little of the political tension between the two nations. Today, we again saw what Germany is capable of and they showed us how an organised side doesn't always constitute a boring side.
The Germans have always been a very organised side and on although on paper it looked pretty average especially in defence, but I think they proved me wrong in this one. They were pretty good in defence today maybe because Ecuador didn't put enough pressure on them. But the most impressive part of this German side is none other than their attack. They were so composed when they're with the ball and they pass the ball with speed and accuracy. They could counter-attack with such speed that Ecuador were caught off guard for a few times. It really didn't take the Germans long before they found the breakthrough. Poor defending by Ecuador in this one, they had 6 players in the box and Klose was able to find space and fire the opening shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Ecuador looked to be a little off paced for most part of the game and constantly giving the ball away cheaply. And with the Germans hungry and attacking with lots of pace, the Ecuadorians were again punished by Klose. This time Ballack was just outside the Ecuador box and he did a little chip over the defence and Miroslav Klose was on hand to latch onto the ball. His first touch took the ball away from Cristian Mora and plant the ball into an empty net. The Ecuador defence was caught square and to be honest, was quite awful for quite some part of the game.
In the second half, Ecuador came out more positive and showed a little improvement from their first half perferomance, which is very disappointing. They pushed more players forward and this means that there bound to be holes at the back. And the Germans, as clinical as usual, put the game beyond doubt when they launched a quick counter-attack. Schweinsteiger placed a brilliant through-ball for Klose. He then put in a brilliant cross for Lukas Podolski to slid in for the third goal and his first in the World Cup. The remaining of the match is controlled by the Germans and Ecuador could not find a way past the German defence.
Maybe England should take a look at how the Germans play their football. Their speed in attack and passing is something of note. They do not possess players like Beckham and Gerrard, but Ballack and Schweinsteiger can do the job, or maybe even better. So, Germans are most likely not going to meet the English then. Phew.
