Who's 'Respecting' Who?

Remember before the new season started, there was a video circulating, promoting the new 'Respect' campaign put up by the English FA. It was to stamp out abuse against the men in black and how the multi-millionaires should listen and be nice to some part timers.

Indeed, I do not condone players surrounding referees hurling abuses or waving imaginary yellow cards. I hate the fact that every time a player commits a foul, his 'comrades' would suddenly stand up and be counted, literally.

But the latest FA decision puts everything into doubt, especially this 'Respect' campaign. John Terry, the great England captain was sent off. He appealed and yea, it was rescinded. I mean, maybe after viewing the replay for the 100th time gave them the idea that it wasn't a red.

But what is absolutely ridiculous is the fact that Mark Halsey, the referee who dared to sent off the great and mighty England thug captain was 'relegated' and won't be officiating in any of the Premiership game this weekend.

So what was that for?

I saw the replay and God, was John Terry an England football captain or is he plying his trade in a wrong sports? It looked every bit like a rugby tackle as he bundled Man City's Jo down. Mind you, Terry is pretty big size if you aren't aware.

Yes, he wasn't the last man. But that was a cynical foul and I thought that by itself is enough to be given a straight red?

So for daring to make the right decision, Mark Halsey was made to pay for sending Terry off. What a sad state of affair. I urge not only the players but the higher authorities as well, to respect the men in black for their decision and not punish them for doing something right just because they're protecting their crown jewel.

Nobody's above the law? Well your status could always buy you a way out apparently.

Respect The Refs!

The English FA have just started a program called 'Respect' and it's aimed to improve the relations between players and the men in black as well as clearing the misunderstanding of referees. Here's the advertisement:

Well well, after weeks and weeks of dragging and waiting, this is the pinnacle of the
goal that sets the 06/07 season alight and the highlight of our season.



I had a friend that commented that his goal against Galatasaray was a fluke and it was lucky but how lucky is he to score two of the same in a season!

It was almost a carbon copy goal of the one he scored against the Turks but this time round, it was a little more difficult than the previous and therefore justifies the position of this goal, number one!

Well, there ends the top 25 goals of Liverpool in the 06/07 season and hopefully you've enjoyed it and if you have comments on the placing of the goals then do share it with the rest of us.

Road To Wembley........NOT

"Road to Wembley", proclaimed the FA Cup organisers. They promised that the FA Cup final for 2007 will be played at the new Wembley stadium. But surprise, it will NOT be ready.

So the Road To Wembley is officially off tracked.

According to government reports, the Wembley Stadium will not be ready in time for the FA Cup final in May, despite the promise by the English FA to hold the finals at the stadium that cost 793 million GBP.

"Alternative arrangements are having to be made. The building work will be finished, but the critical issue is the safety certificates.

"The FA are going to have to announce it in the next couple of weeks. That will mean the Cup Final will be played in Cardiff again."

First and foremost, it is important to consider that this stadium had been touted to open in 2006 and at the same time last year, the FA too, said that the stadium will be ready for FA Cup 2006. Rewind it a year on and it's still the same.

You know, the FA just kind of mirror the England national team. Clueless and disorganised.

A so called 'world class' stadium that got delayed for more than a year and paying that sort of money for it. You're having a laugh. A normal stadium would cost 200 odd million GBP and how on earth did that cost skyrocket to almost 800 million GBP is beyond me. Wasteful. Now throw those money back into the youth academies and perhaps, people like Terry Venables won't have to say anything about it anymore.

Of course, it's not recommended for the stadium to be used for the FA Cup finals when you're jeopardising the lives of the people if the stadium is deemed not safe enough. Now, it seemed like the FA bigwigs really have to bury their head in the sand. Broken promises, sounds like the England team as well!

Anyway, I could never comprehend why they bother to build such a massive structure with absolutely stunning interior for a team that's so dull and colourless. Talk about irony. Wembley, the perfect example.
