THE MATCH NOBODY WATCHES - PREVIEW

3rd / 4th PLACING PLAY-OFF

Stuttgart

GERMANY vs PORTUGAL

GERMANY: There will be some concern to Klinsy, who will be without some key players for this match. Lehmann have conceded his gloves and number 1 jersey back to his old rival, Oliver Kahn for this match as a mark of mutual respect between the two veterans. The back-line will be almost different from the one we've seen for the past month, as Friedrich, Mertesacker and Lahm will not be available. Huth, Hitzlsperger and Marcell Jansen is set to deputise for the trio.

While in midfield, Michael Ballack will miss out while Tim Borowski is doubtful. Sebastian Kehl will be likely to start and Schweinsteiger should get back his right wing position. I don't think they will make any changes to the 2 forwards, as one is chasing for the golden bo
ot and the other his formidable partner. Klose and Podolski expected to lead the line.

Probable Line-up (4-4-2):

PORTUGAL: Portugal will not have as much injury worries as Germany, but the squad's morale is said to be at its all-time low following the defeat at the hands of the Les Bleus. FIFA's snub on Cristiano Ronaldo for the Young Player of the Tournament is rumoured to have angered Cry-naldo himself and coach, Luis Felipe Scolari. They will be without suspended Chelsea centre-back, Ricardo Carvalho and right-back, Miguel. Caneira of Valencia will step in while Paulo Ferreira will replace Miguel.

Probable Line-up (4-5-1):

DROGBALLS' PREDICTION: GERMANY 3 - 1 PORTUGAL. I really hope for this result, as I don't like the Portugese (don't kill me) and I just think that the Germans will go into this game with a psychological edge over the Iberians. They'll have massive support from the Stuttgart crowd and I don't think they will want to fail in front of their own fans again. The defence is a little weak though, the Portugese will surely look to exploit. In the history of the World Cup, the 3rd/4th placing match has always been full of goals so do expect one tonight.

LEGO WORLD CUP: THE MOVIE!

Germany vs World 'All-Star' ?

Saw this really interesting 'movie' trailer in the news few weeks back, but didn't post about it because I can't find the video. But now I've found it and would love to share it with you people! It's really cute, so do enjoy.

Saw the making of the movie as well. It takes a lot of effort from the people, as they have to move the Lego for every scene. Nice work there, hope their hard work pays off.

OTHER WORLD CUP STORIES...

Lehmann Lets Kahn Have The Number 1 Jersey :-

Lehmann was handed the number one jersey on the eve of the finals and has been brilliant as the hosts made it the semi-final.

Klinsmann said: "Oliver Kahn will play. We owe him that gesture and no-one in this world would begrudge him that privilege. "I have spoken to Jens and he has no problem with it. He is full of compliments for Oliver."

Lehmann and Kahn have waged a very public war of words as they challenged each other for the place in the team over the last decade. The German manager said: "It is a wonderful story about the two enormous - not enemies - but rivals for the same position.

Drogballs: 3rd/4th place isn't that 'glorious' right. So might as well hand the keeper's glove to your rival and if Germany DOES lose to the Portugeezers, then Lehmann will bear no blame. Nah, just a cynical view from me as usual. It's nice to see them being so friendly after all, next up is Fabien Barthez and Gregory Coupet? No, don't think so!

Raymond Domenech Is An English Fan!:-

France coach Raymond Domenech has been reported to FIFA for a foul-mouthed attack on the Portuguese bench.

The Sun says Portugal claim Domenech waited for them in the tunnel after Les Bleus' 1-0 semi-final win - and started screaming: "I f****d you, I f****d you" while laughing in their faces and pointing at them.

The Portuguese claim this led to a bust-up, which involved their boss Big Phil Scolari, with blows exchanged, pushing, shoving, more swearing and FIFA intervention.

Now they want Domenech banned from the touchline for Sunday's final against Italy.

Portuguese spokesman Afonso de Melo said: "His behaviour was rude and insulting."

Drogballs: Portugese deserves it, but so does Domenech. From the beginning I've already named him the nutter for being absolutely weird and some bizarre squad selections. Bet he's fuming that Rooney got sent off, eh?

WORLD CUP XI AND YOUNG PLAYER AWARD GOES TO...

Young Player Of The Tournament - Lukas Podolski (GER)

Cristiano Ronaldo's antics against England and France cost him the award for young player of the World Cup.

The Manchester United winger won the fans' internet vote easily but FIFA's technical study's group chose Germany striker Lukas Podolski as the tournament's young player ahead of the Portugal star.

Ronaldo was criticised for his behaviour surrounding Wayne Rooney's sending off, after which he winked at his bench, and was roundly booed in the semi-final against France - during which he blatantly dived in the penalty box.

Still not convince it's a dive?

I'll give it a 9/10. The 1 points deducted for the air kick near the end of it. SHAME.

World Cup "All-Star" Squad

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Jens Lehmann (Germany), Ricardo (Portugal).

Defenders: Roberto Ayala (Argentina), John Terry (England), Lilian Thuram (France), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Fabio Cannavaro (Italy), Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy), Ricardo Carvalho (Portugal).

Midfielders: Ze Roberto (Brazil), Patrick Vieira (France), Zinedine Zidane (France), Michael Ballack (Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Gennaro Gattuso (Italy), Luis Figo (Portugal), Maniche (Portugal).

Strikers: Hernan Crespo (Argentina), Thierry Henry (France), Miroslav Klose (Germany), Francesco Totti (Italy), Luca Toni (Italy).

Those names highlighted in red are who I think does not deserve to be in the squad. But who can be blamed, it's the same FIFA that placed USA number THREE on it's ranking. John Terry is in there because he's the better one out of a sh*t bunch while Michael Ballack? Luis Figo misses an open goal and went into the squad and Maniche for scoring Lampard-esque shots.

The strikers are a joke. It just underlined the problem of this current World Cup, that is teams are playing far too defensive and often strikers are not given the chance to shine. Most of them are like Terry, the better one out of a bad bunch. How much better could you choose when teams like England and Portugal consistantly plays on striker up front and let them go on a kamikaze mission?

PLEASE DON'T KICK THE STRAY BALLS !

'Police in Berlin said on Wednesday they had arrested two men on suspicion of placing cement-filled footballs around the city and inviting people to kick them.

'At least two people injured themselves by kicking the balls, which were chained to lampposts and trees alongside the spray-painted message: "Can you kick it?"

'Police said they had identified a 26-year-old and a 29-year-old and had found a workshop in their apartment where they made the balls.

'The two are accused of causing serious physical injury, dangerous obstruction of traffic and causing injury through negligence, police said.'

And you thought the Germans didn't have a sense of humour.

THE WORLD CUP '06 TOY STORE

So, our usually nice, controversial-less and sarcasm-less newspaper suddenly becomes so critical of him too. Joining in the fun maybe? But funny nevertheless. Even my dad had a little banter with me about him today. He obviously has become a major talking point and a common topic to most people now. What a wonderful player, let's hope he doesn't cry again during the 3rd/4th place play-offs. Or the newspaper, tabloids and my blog will have a field day yet again.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD CUP TOY STORE!

HOTTEST ITEM: Crying Cronaldo Doll

Other Stocks Includes:
  • Cristiano Ronaldo Punching Bag - CURRENTLY SOLD OUT IN ENGLAND. Found in many people's home including a certain person named Wayne. Do not 'play' with it for too long, because psychologist claimed that too much of punching will cause mental disorder.
  • David Beckham's Pregnancy Test Kit - After vomitting during the game against Ecuador, many people suspects he's pregnant. Why not use this?
  • Ronaldo's Weighing Scale - No matter what you put on it, Ronaldo or Cronaldo, it still shows the same weight and not fat at all. IGNORANCE IS BLISS!
  • Frank Lampard's Dart Board - No matter how pro you are, no matter how hard you try, the dart just wouldn't hit the bulls eye. No idea why though. You would need to ask Fat Frank himself.
  • Wayne Rooney's Anti-Temper Incense Stick - One sniff of this and all your anger would be gone. Rumour has it that Rooney's daily consumption of this stick is around 247.
  • Togo Cash Register - Money come, money come, MONEY COME!
  • Raymond Domenech's Eyebrow Trimmer - Should be useful, selling fast!

THE KAISER WANTS TO CRACKDOWN ON DIVING

Franz Beckenbauer has called for a footballing summit to crack down on diving and cheating.

The former World Cup-winning captain and coach, and head of Germany's 2006 organising committee, said players are now taking advantage of referees' apparent willingness to award cautions for relatively minor offences.
Beckenbauer - wants summit to solve problems.

Beckenbauer, known as the 'Kaiser', said: "The players are looking for an advantage and they attempt to exploit the situation.

"At the beginning of the tournament, I felt the referees were showing yellow cards too early for trivial offences but the players make it much harder by simulating, and by staying lying on the ground to interrupt play.

"Perhaps everyone - players, referees and administrators can get around a table after this to come up with a solution to put an end to this kind of unfortunate incidents.

"Perhaps there could be a compromise where referees are more generous."

Beckenbauer also wants the rules changed so that any player who tries to get another player booked or sent off by waving an imaginary card at a match official is himself cautioned.

"This is unsporting and unfair," said Beckenbauer.

"I think that whoever asks a referee to give a yellow or red card to another player should get the card himself."

Drogballs: Someone that I have full respect of and to me, he should be the president of FIFA rather than that Sepptic Blatter. He speaks sense and you expect that from someone that have won the World Cup as a player and as a manager. He's a leader on the pitch during his playing days, where his nickname 'The Kaiser' derived from and he's a superb organiser off the pitch. Germany 2006 is a showcase of his organisation skills and leadership qualities. I think he attended all the matches in the World Cup and that shows a lot from someone, who truely loves football. Great man, I'll ask the fat boy not to laugh at you though. HAHA

PORTUGAL'S SECRET TRAINING GROUND UNCOVERED!

Now we have two major threats to the security of human being on earth! One is North Korea making some weapons (I think they use mentos + diet coke) while Portugal are currently training soldiers that are more than meets the eye! They're gonna take over the world with those soldiers!

Two days ago, an American satellite was doing its usual round of 'voyeur' ing around watching people...nevermind. And to their shock and horror they found something...evil...and it's classified top secret. Drogballs will be the first to bring you the photo taken and it's thanks to my neighbour's girlfriend's uncle's dog's doctor's hairdresser as he's the one that got the photo. Here it is....

Haha, alright I'm still joking about it. Should stop soon. :D The next Olympic, there's hope for Portugal in the pools for synchronised diving! NOTE: I'm not the one that does the Photoshop pictures. I got them somewhere else.

JUST WHAT IF CRYNALDO DOESN'T APOLOGISE TO ROONSTER?

It'll be terribly catastrophic, worst than any human mind could've imagine. Better apologise..now...

No actually, just kidding. :D

FIFA GOLDEN BALL (NOT BECKHAM) AWARDS NOMINATIONS

The nominations are:

Fabio Cannavaro (Italy) - Captain of Italy, he have been consistantly brilliant in this competition. One of the reasons why Italy only conceded one goal so far might be down this little man over here. Not the tallest of defenders, but I don't think any strikers would like to face him, even if you're Petey Crouchinho.

Maniche (Portugal) - Erm, other than shooting from afar like Lampard (except he scored twice), I don't have any idea why they picked him. Perhaps at getting yellow cards?

Michael Ballack (Germany) - Oh now we know. They picked the list based on your reputation. What have Ballack done to warrant a place here anyway. I could name a few others who deserved it more than him. But since he's the captain of a over-achieving Germany, then might as well put his name here.

Andrea Pirlo (Italy) - Excellent player with great technique. I have always thought he's a player who doesn't have any body strength and goes down too easily. But this time round he showed me that he doesn't need to be as strong as Gattuso to be able to play well. A graceful player which resembles Xabi Alonso to me. His passing and set piece aren't too shabby either.

Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy) - Scored a wicked left footed drive and have been consistantly performing for the Azzurris. His bombing run up and down the right flank is essential for the Italian side, who lacked a little width in attack. Solid defensively as well.

Thierry Henry (France) - Another player on the list for being a big name player. Scored 3 goals so far against mighty Togo, South Korea and also world champions, Brazil. Yesterday he made a meal out of the contact from Ricardo Carvalho and the penalty turns out to be the winning penalty. Where's your sportsmanship, Monsieur Henry?

Gianluigi Buffon (Italy) - The world's most expensive goalkeeper and you could see why. Part of the impregnable Italian defence, he made a couple of crucial saves and commanded his defence well. Big size and imposing, he is the keeper that no strikers would like to face, one on one.

Patrick Vieira (France) - Had a quiet first two games, where he was found missing on several instances. But when Zidane was suspended against Togo, he wore the captain's armband and put in one of the performance of the tournament from a single player. He was the architech for Henry's goal and had his name on the score sheet as well. Gets better every game, should be interesting fight with Rino Gattuso in the World Cup Finals.

Miroslav Klose (Germany) - Current top scorer of the World Cup 2006, his goal poaching ability is undoubtedly one of the best in the tournament and absolutely clinical at times. His partnership with Lukas Podolski blossomed and they formed the partnership many teams admired. Scored the 80min equaliser against Argentina and a couple of goals in the opening match. Should be able to win the golden boot without much problem.

Zinedine Zidane (France) - The master of how to play football gracefully. Do I need to say more about Zizou? Although he was pretty poor against Switzerland and South Korea, he came back strongly and showed the Samba Brazillians how football should be played with effectiveness and little hassle. A composed penalty taking skill from him also ensured the French a place in finals for only their second time in history.

Who's your pick of the bunch? Who shouldn't be on that list? Mail me your views or comment on it by whatever means. Oh, remember to meditate and sleep early before the 3rd/4th placing match starts this Saturday. Time to get some rest!

SAMBA BOY'S FIRST DAY IN TRAINING AND THEIR PROFILE

INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW BOYS FROM SOUTH AMERICA!

(Mark Gonzalez, Fabio Aurelio and Rafa Benitez)

So, we signed 3 players from the great lands of the South American, where football talents are plentiful unlike England and trying to bring a little spice and flair into the current Liverpool set up. From the signings so far, I could see what Rafa is planning on, that is to strengthen our attack and adds a little more attacking flair, which has been lacking in the squad, since only Luis Garcia seemed to be the only one that can be categorized under it. Other than the 3 mentioned, don't forget we've already signed Craig Bellamy as well and he will certainly add an extra pace upfront for our strike force.

26. MARK 'SPEEDY' GONZALEZ (LEFT WING)

Mark Dennis González Hoffman (born July 10, 1984 in Durban, South Africa), is commonly known as Mark González. He is a Chilean footballer whose preferred position is as a left winger. Known for his fast pace and acceleration, he is aptly nicknamed "Speedy" (González).

González had agreed a move to Liverpool F.C. on loan for the 2005-06 season (with a view to a permanent move) from Albacete Balompie. However, he was denied a work permit by the Department of Education and Employment in August 2005. The Liverpool management showed great faith in González, pursuing his services despite work permit troubles and a cruciate knee ligament injury. Arrangements were made for the player to spend a loan spell at Real Sociedad until the work permit problem is sorted out.

At Sociedad González put in some impressive performances, most noteably against Real Madrid, where he scored Sociedad's equaliser as the game finished 1-1. Sociedad have shown interest in taking him permanently, along with several other La Liga clubs, but González is quoted to have said "I am very thankful to Real Sociedad and their coach Jose Mari Bakero, but while they'd like me to stay I'm going to England to join Liverpool"

27. FABIO AURELI
O (LEFT-BACK)

Fábio Aurélio Rodrigues (born 24 September 1979 in São Carlos) is a Brazilian soccer player, who currently plays for the English team Liverpool. He plays in the position of left back or left midfield and is noted for his powerful shooting ability.

Fábio Aurélio came through the youth scheme at São Paulo, making his first team debut in 1997, and has represented Brazil at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-21 levels. He also played in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

He joined Valencia after the Olympics on a six-year contract. The 2001–02 season would see his first major trophy win, when he helped Valencia to their first La Liga championship in 31 years. The 2003–04 season was another big year for Valencia, winning both the domestic La Liga championship as well as the European 2003–04 UEFA Cup tournament, beating Olympique Marseille 2-0 in the final. Aurélio missed most of the season with a broken leg, however, managing only two games.

Aurélio holds an Italian passport allowing him to bypass the non-EU player restrictions in La Liga.

On June 28, 2006 it was reported in the Liverpool Echo that "Fabio Aurelio will officially become a Liverpool player this weekend. Aurelio will sign his four-year Anfield contract on July 1, having already agreed terms with the Reds."

HONOURS:
* Spanish La Liga: 2002, 2004
* UEFA Cup: 2004
* European Super Cup: 2004

29. GABRIEL PALETTA (CENTRE-BACK)

Gabriel Alejandro Paletta (born 15 February 1986) is an Argentinean central defender, who will join Liverpool F.C. in the summer of 2006 from Club Atlético Banfield. He will be the second Argentine to play for Liverpool, after Mauricio Pellegrino

Paletta first came to prominence in 2005. At the start of the year he was still yet to make his first team debut with Banfield, but when he finally got his chance he impressed. When Banfield qualified for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores they altered their 25 man squad for the event to include Paletta and immediately threw him into action against the Colombian team Independiente Medellín. Paletta played well and Banfield progressed, but Paletta was to play no further part in the tournament after being called up to the Argentinian under-20 team to contest the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Paletta started all seven games playing in the heart of the Argentine defence. Argentina lead upfront by Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero went on to win the tournament and Paletta's performances brought him to the attention of Liverpool's scouts. Rafael Benitez said of the player: "Paletta is very tough and he's exactly the sort of player we need who will suit the Premiership. When you talk about the Argentinean defenders I worked with in Valencia, Paletta is more like Roberto Ayala than Mauricio Pellegrino. If you're talking about Liverpool, he's more like Jamie Carragher than Sami Hyypia. This is good because we will have a balance in the style of defenders."

Latest On Joaquin

Liverpool have denied fresh reports from Spain that they are set to bid for Spanish winger Joaquin.
Spanish news agency AS yesterday reported Liverpool were ready to offer £12 million plus a number of fringe players to tempt Real Betis into parting with the highly rated winger, but Reds' chief executive Rick Parry has today insisted the story has no substance.

"It's simply not true," said Parry. "We have no idea where the story came from."

KARMA STRIKES AS ZIDANE MAKES CRONALDO CRY AGAIN

FRANCE TO MEET ITALY IN WORLD CUP FINALS

Munich

PORTUGAL 0 - 1 FRANCE

Scorer:
FRA - Zidane (pen 33min);

Divers, cheats and swines. This are not my words, but they are taken off from media, newspaper and even on radio. So Portugal are now branded as cheats by the majority (of course not from the fans) and how low did they go? Cristiano Ronaldo and Helder Postiga are the main culprits as I watched the game and started counting on the number of 'dives' they took and I can remember 2 or 3 off my head. Is it a 'national' thing to the Portugese or were they coached to do so?

But how karma usually come and bite you in the arse and it just came so swiftly and justice done this time. The Portugese fell by a suspicious Thierry Henry dive in the penalty box and up steps the wonderful Zinedine Zidane, who showed the whole of England how to take a decent penalty against Ricardo. You could see it in his eyes, that he's confident of finishing it off without much trouble and he dispatched an emphatic penalty into the bottom right corner of Ricardo's net.

The French set the early pace of the game with Ribery and Malouda constant threat early in the game. But the Portugese did threaten with Deco and Cronalo in the side. They found spaces behind Makelele and Vieira and exploited it well. But Thuram was in fine form to stop the Portugese attacks and you could say he single-handedly bailed the French out a couple of times. Fabien Barthez was at his eccentric best again when Cronaldo took a banana shot straight at him and he couldn't make up his mind on whether to catch or punch and made a messed of it. He punched the ball upwards and it fell kindly to Luis Figo's head, but he missed the header and the ball sailed over the gaping goal with Barthez stranded.

The last 5-10 minutes were frantic as the French had their back against the wall and the Portugese trying to find the equaliser. But it was not to be the French will now go on to meet the Azzurris in the World Cup finals. Tears again from Cronaldo, o Crynaldo as I've branded him currently, and they will still get a chance to prove their point when they meet host, Germany in the 3rd and 4th placing play off this Saturday.

Drogballs' Man Of the Match Award Goes To.... : Lilian Thuram. Like Fabio Cannavaro of Italy yesterday night, he put up an excellent show for the Les Bleus once again and has began to impose himself more every passing game. Lots of crucial tackles, vital interceptions and towering header makes him my pick for man of the match.

SOUTH AMERICAN FLAVOURS AT LIVERPOOL AND LATEST ON JOAQUIN

Reds Confirm Aurelio Capture

Liverpool have secured the capture of Fabio Aurelio, with the Brazilian left back putting pen to paper on a four-year deal at Anfield this afternoon.
Aurelio won a Spanish La Liga title under Benitez at Valencia and becomes the first Brazilian to play for Liverpool.

Aurelio in training with the reds of the Liverpool players"Fabio is a player with a lot of quality and he is a really good signing for us," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"His technical ability is fantastic and he has a great left foot and provides the team with a lot of options. He has a really good mentality and he is a winner."

While Mark Gonzalez's Work Permit Aprroved Finally!

Rafael Benitez was celebrating today after Chilien international Mark Gonzalez was given the green light to begin his Liverpool career.

The left winger was granted a work permit after a successful hearing on Wednesday morning, and Benitez believes 23-year-old Gonzalez is a player who will not only enhance his team but also excite the supporters.

"This is very good news for us and I am absolutely delighted to welcome Mark Gonzalez to Liverpool as he is a player the supporters will like to see," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Mark is an exciting left winger who can cross good balls and beat defenders and he is a very good signing for us. He has a very good mentality as when I was talking with him he told me, 'I want to play for Liverpool'."

Gonzalez spent last season on loan in La Liga with Real Sociedad after he was initially refused a work permit to join Liverpool from Spanish side Albacete.

Drogballs: Fantastic news. Our summer transfer plans have finally kicked off and two excellent pieces of news in just about 5 minutes. Both are left sided players and are clearly talented and raring to go, desperate to wear the famous Reds shirt next season. But does this spell an end for Harry Kewell? Might just be... Stay tune for more.

Liverpool To Break Bank For Joaquin?

Liverpool have put together a massive bid for Real Betis wing ace Joaquin.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is willing to offer 12 million plus fringe players Jerzy Dudek, Bolo Zenden and Antonio Barragan for the Spain international, reports AS.

Betis have welcomed the interest, with new president Pepe Leon admitting they're prepared to sell Joaquin this summer - if the right offer arrives.

Liverpool want to split the cash component in two, with an initial 7 million arriving before a second installment of 5 million being paid in 18 months time.

Drogballs: I can predict what's to come for the next few days. 'CHELSEA LAUNCH MEGA BID FOR JOAQUIN'. Trust me on that, they are getting oh-so predictable.

THERE YOU GO, PORTUGAL VS FRANCE PREVIEW!

Munich

PORTUGAL vs FRANCE

PORTUGAL: Portugal will be without suspended Armando Petit this time round, but Deco and Costinha should return to the starting 11 after missing out the last match against England due to, surprise, suspension. Something of note, that Portugal will have several players on yellow cards and must be careful not to pick up another, or it will yet again be suspensions to the Portugese.

Probable Line-up:

FRANCE: After defeating defending champions, Brazil , by an odd goal last week, the French would surely be te favourites for this match. Many of us, including me wrote off their chances of winning the World Cup at first, when they were really poor. But things start to pick up for the Les Bleus, who's in fine form currently, and Zidane back to nearing his best. He might be tired and exhausted from club football, but this will be his swansong and he'll no doubt put in every last ounce of energy to ensure that his departure from planet football is a glorious one. They too, will have some players on yellow card including captain Zidane.

Probable Line-up:
Drogballs' Prediction: PORTUGAL 1 - 1 FRANCE (France to win 2-1 after extra time). France vs Italy finals appeal to me more. So I'm backing the French tonight although I can already sense that it's not gonna be easy for the Les Bleus. Figo, Cronaldo and Deco are the key man and will look to run at the ageing legs of Makalele and Thuram. But I believe that the French will prevail, with Zinedine Zidane showing his class once again and becoming the difference between the 2 sides.

ARE THEY TWINS, OR WHAT?

I've been telling a few of my mates that Franck Ribery looks a wee bit like Gary 'I'm macho moustache man' Neville and most of their replies are "no lah, where got!"

Hope this picture knock some sense into your people! Haha, just kidding. It shows that guys watch football, not their faces. But seriously, both of them have a freakishly similar face.

DRAMATIC! ITALIANS THROUGH TO THE FINALS !

2 Goals In Last 3 Minutes Sent Italians Into Joy, Germans Into Tears:

Dortmund

GERMANY 0 - 0 ITALY

After Extra-time

GERMANY 0 - 2 ITALY

Scorers:

ITA - Grosso (118min), Del Piero (120min);

The Germans must have a hell of a night yesterday. Not out there to party and celebrate of course, but to mourn and to reflect on the lost to Italy on their own backyard. They have been the second best team throughout the night and didn't step up their game to trouble Italy too much, other than a shot from Podolski, which is brilliantly parried by Gigi Buffon, they didn't do anything of note and did not seemed to impose their play on the Italians, instead it was the other way round, with the Italians being very patient and having the lion share of possesion.

To be really honest, I was taken aback by Klinsmann's decision when I saw the First XI of the German squad. They replaced attacking winger, Bastian Schweinsteiger with Sebastian Kehl while Tim Borowski was pushed out wide to play on the left. To me it looked alittle too conservative for my liking and seemed to be inviting the Italian's pressure and also showed their determination to limit the Italian's attack by trying to neutralise the threat of Francesco Totti, whom we all know is a dangerman for the Azzurris. Early on, Italy set the pace of the game with their constant counter attack and the German defence JUST managed to keep them out for in a few instances. Italian striker, Luca Toni enjoyed the spaces between Mertesacker and Friedrich, whom are a little shaky in this game. The first half of the game ended in a stalemate, with the Italians holding more of the possesion, but the German with more intention of breaking the deadlock.

After a poor first half showing, Germany came out all guns blazing, with a few chances, namely falling to Lukas Podolski and Michael Ballack. Jurgen Klinsmann must have said something to them in the break. They looked a little listless in the first half and you could sense anxiety growing in the fans over in Dortmund. Let me mention it once again, that the Germans have never lost in the Westfalenstadion for over 15 games. But expectations heaps pressure, and the pressure seemed to take a toil in the Germans.

Once again, a defence brilliantly marshalled by my man-of-the-match, Fabio Cannavaro, denied any space to Miroslav Klose, the current leading World Cup goalscorer, and he was left isolated, along with Podolski. He's a goalpoacher and should be in the penalty box, but he was even back in the half-way line helping out the midfield and looks a little lost when he got the ball back. He's not someone with the speed and dribbling skills of Messi, therefore he lost lots of possesion at the final third, with Borowski and Kehl failing to support, and Ballack failing to stamp his authority in the game once again. He looked a little off coloured and fell down at every chance. A sign of a Chelsea player, eh?

Seemed to me it's predictable, that the game is going into extra-time and a possible penalty shoot-out. Legs were tired and Germans were frustrated. Seemed to me they were not as cool as they used to be whereas the Italians seemed REALLY patient, passing the ball around nicely with Andrea Pirlo at the thick of things, passing the ball nicely and spreading plays. I could see our Xabi Alonso being the next Pirlo, as they seemed to be the very same type of player.

When it all seemed like it's gonna be yet another penalty shoot-out, it was Pirlo who changed the face of the game. After receiving the ball just outside the penalty box after a corner-kick, he waited for the perfect opportunity to slip a ball into the German defence, which looks knackered and lost their concentration. The pass was so subtle that it deceived the defence, and Fabio Grosso was in the box with the ball, unmarked. He turned and with his favoured left foot, curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net, with Lehmann diving desparingly and couldn't do anything about it.

The Germans were shaken and to score a goal against you in the second last minute in the match, it looked a dead-cert game over for the Germans. Yet they are still in the game and have to find the equaliser fast. But to their dismay, the German defence showed its vulnerability and inexperience once again, with most of their players pushed forward, leaving a gap in the back for the Italians to launch their counter-attack. AC Milan's Alberto Gilardino got the ball just outside the German penalty box, with only Per Mertesacker with him. He turned him inside-out before threading a perfect telling pass to Alessandro Del Piero, and you knew he couldn't miss from that sort of range. He finished it emphatically, chipping over the on-rushing Jens Lehmann. And it was all but game over for the Germans. No way back from then, as referee Archundia blowed the final whistle, and they got beaten in their own backyard, their first defeat in this World Cup and first in 15 games over at Dortmund.

They were duly disappointed with their performance last night. They started out a little too negative last night, handling the initiative to the Italians from the start, and never recovered. They were not of their usual slick pass and move side and made Buffon a virtual spectator, no shots for him to save except for the Podolski pile-driver. The tears flowed from a group of players, who are seemed to everyone that they are strong and cool, the German trait. But sometimes it's just the cruelty of the game, that sadness and disappointments are inevitable. But the big problem is can they bounce back from it and go even further the next time round? Let's wait and see in the 2008 European Championship.

Sums it all up eh?

Drogballs' Man Of The Match Award Goes To: Have to be between Fabio Cannavaro or Andrea Pirlo. Both played a blinder and did their job with wonderful Italian effectiveness. Cannavaro snuffed out all the German attacks with his positioning sense and fantastic tackling. Anyone saw him challenging a ball and won it when it seemed dead certain he was not going to win it? Pirlo, the wonderful playmaker for the Italians. Sometimes I think the English lacked someone like him in the midfield. Fantastic game for an under-rated player.

OSCAR AWARDS FOR THIS GUY HERE

We've been constantly talking and 'hyping' up the likes of Robben, Drogba, Cole, Pires and Reyes for their theatrics and their 'acting' skills. But we seemed to have forgotten about someone....

This guy pwns anyone of with their names mention above. Class above!

LIVERPOOL TRAINING GEAR REVEALED...

Our Adidas Training Kit For Season 06/07

Not too bad, the design of the shirt is something like the home kit, if those supposed 'leak' of the kits are true. It's also the same design as the German national team's home kit, except the colour is different. Is it me or I think the badge is a little too big....

WORLD CUP SEMI FINALS PREVIEW

Dortmund

GERMANY vs ITALY

Germany: They will be without midfield anchorman, Torsten Frings after yet another FIFA t*ts-up, got suspended for an apparent scratch on Julio Cruz face during the aftermath of Argentna vs Germany. Tim Borowski of Werder Breman is set to deputise him in the role. Germany will be the favourites for tonight's game, going into the game on a 5 matches unbeaten run and another fact is that, they have never lost in Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park, winning 13 and drawing 1 in their previous 14 matches. But the record might be broken tonight by a strong Italian squad. Germany's last meeting with Italy was a disastrous one, a 4-1 defeat 4 months ago. They will look to avenged their lost pride and send Germany into their 2nd consecutive World Cup final.

Probable Line-up:

Italy: They will be without injured Alessandro Nesta in the centre-back position. Marco Materazzi, who missed the last game against Ukraine due to injury will set to regain his position back from Andrea Barzagli. Italy might have a slight edge over Germany as they have never been beaten by the Germans in any major tournament YET. Juventus' Mauro Camoranesi is set to return to the squad after missing the training but by the look of things, might be on the bench.

Probable Line-up:

Drogballs' Prediction:
Germany 0 - 0 Italy (Italy to win 1-0 after Extra-time). I'll be supporting Germany, but I have a strange feeling that it's gonna be the Italians who will walk away smilling tonight. Their in the same sh*t as they were back in 1982 when they won the World Cup, scandals and players affected. But through adversity they stood united and strong. Will be a very tight match and might just go into extra time.

READER'S CHOICE - GERMANY TO WIN

Conclusion Of The Poll (Sarcasm & Stereotype Alert):

Not alot of votes eh, but I appreciate it. Okay anyway red hot favouites & host, Beer drinking Germans is your choice for the World Cup '06 Winner and maybe, rightly so. They have been consistently good from the first game and scored lots of goals. They are the most impressive teams out of the 4 and deserved the place in the last 4. But can they get a place in the finals? They have overwhelming support, but support means pressure too. Can they withstand the pressure, or crack under it?

The Oscar nominated Portugese side, favourites among the ladies because of erm, one man, oh wait, one good looking kid is in the second place. They're organised and seemed to me, the pluckiest side of the 4. Let's see if they can continue to be lucky against the 'Dad's army', Les Bleus.

The Dirty Italians and Ageing & Frog eating French are on par with 3 votes each.

May the best team win. And don't take my comments too seriously. I'm just kidding!

AND YOU THINK SHEARER'S BORING?

Well, not really...

not bad eh, he's quite a good singer!

R&R KISS AND MAKE-UP DAY

Drogballs' Guide On How To Relief The Tension Over @ ManYoo

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been told by manager Sir Alex Ferguson to bury the hatchet with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Sun says the pair were urged yesterday to privately settle the row sparked on Saturday when Portuguese winger Ronaldo appeared to beg the ref to send Rooney off during England's World Cup quarter-final defeat.

Fergie: OI, WAYNE. Go apologise to the prancing Portugeezer!

Rooney: Yes, Gaffer...

Rooney: AYE RONNIE, apologise to me! I don't care!

Cronaldo: NOs NOs! NOTz NOW!

Rooney: GRRR....(takes out a gun)

Cronaldo: Okay, okay! For the good of all mankind!

then.....10 minutes later...

Rooney: AH,GOOD BOY, all is forgiven.

Cronaldo: =\ (just don't split me into two....)

NO WONDER THEY SUCKED AT PENALTIES....

England's Italian fitness coach Ivan Carminati slammed Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher over his penalty miss on Saturday.

The Sun says Carminati sneered: "What a joke. Jamie Carragher is a professional football player. And as a football player you know you have to wait for the referee.

"It is the same rule in England, in Italy or anywhere else in Europe. It's the same in America or Africa - in fact everywhere."

A fitness coach to train players for penalty kicks? And after somebody misses the kick, you came out of the woodwork and blast him? I really, really don't know what's going on behind the scenes in the England training camp. Seemed like a mess to me.

OUR THOUGHTS GOES OUT TO PEOPLE IN VALENCIA

Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez tonight led colleagues and players Pako Ayestaran, Jose Manuel Ochotorena, Fabio Aurelio, Momo Sissoko and Eduardo Macia in sending condolences to those affected by today's train crash in Valencia.
At least 34 people are believed to have died in the underground train accident.

The Liverpool manager said: "We have many happy memories of our time in Valencia and want to send our condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this awful tragedy. They are very much in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."

"Tenemos muy buenos recuerdos de nuestra estancia en Valencia y queremos enviar nuestras condolencias a las familias y amigos de aquellos que perdieron la vida en este terrible accidente. Todos ellos están en nuestros pensamientos y oraciones en este momento tan difícil".
From Liverpoolfc.tv

Well, if you're detailed enough, you should have spotted something. Okay let me let me 'analyse' this little passage with you. Now look at the 5 names mentioned above. Spot something? Yes, Fabio Aurelio. What is he doing in the news that's taken off the official Liverpool website? Ochotorena is one of the coaches in Liverpool, Sissoko used to play for Valencia and now Liverpool. Eduardo Macia is our newly appointed chief scout. So leaving with Aurelio the odd one out. Want me to draw a conclusion? Well, Aurelio have signed for Liverpool already. Maybe still yet to sign the contract, or maybe just that is hasn't been announced to the public yet. Maybe Rafa would want to complete all his summer transfers before unveiling them altogether instead of one by one. Thanks for the subtle message...

Anyway, my our thoughts to go out to those affected by the train wreck. God bless and you'll never walk alone.

CAPTAIN BECKHAM'S RESIGNATION SPEECH....

"On the 15th November 2000, Peter Taylor gave me the greatest honour of my career in making me England captain."

Feeling a little bad for Becks, as he's been quite a good captain. He's good, but not the best captain out there. All the best, Becks. Your goal against Greece will never be forgotten.

A LITTLE ADVISE TO CRONALDO........

Don't say he didn't warn you...

Wayne Rooney reportedly attempted to charge into Portugal's dressing room to confront Cristiano Ronaldo after England's bitter World Cup exit.

The ManYoo striker was incensed at the role of his club team-mate in his sending off and has reputedly vowed to "split him in two".

According to The Daily Mirror, a 'blazing mad' Rooney had to be restrained by his England team-mates before being bundled on to the team bus following the Three Lions' defeat on penalties.

But Rooney's fury was still threatening to explode the next morning. The Sun quotes an 'England insider' declaring: "At breakfast in the hotel this morning, Wayne said he would split him in two and smack him in the head. Who can blame him?

"He is determined to settle the score in his own way and there is nothing anyone can do about it."

Regardless of Ronaldo's involvement, Rooney's dismissal was sparked by an apparent loss of discipline when his frustration boiled over. So much for learning an important lesson, then.

We can all hope for 2 things. Firstly Cronaldo fans will surely
not want him to ever go back to ManYoo again because a raging mad british bulldog is about to tear him into two. It's not gonna be nice, eh?

And ABU (Anything But United) fans like me will surely hope Cronaldo returns to ManYoo and watch the drama unfold. Imagine the fight between van Nistelrooy, Cronaldo and Rooney. Come on, it sounds fun. At least Shrek and Donkey is involved!

Anyway a message to the man in the middle. Good luck and God bless.........

SAGA OF THE 3 'R's: ROON, RON AND REF

Rooney vs Cronaldo Saga (Now With Videos)

So, it's all controversies and no answers for this saga. It seemed like it's getting more complicated everyday with people like Gerrard and Lampard coming out and taking a shot at Cronaldo while Cronaldo pleaded innoncent on his action and claimed he only said 'Did you see that?' to the Argentinian referee. I have mentioned on the previous post that the cameras caught Cronaldo doing the 'winking at the Portugese bench' and also the 'headbutt on Rooney' incident and let me present you with the video.

Watch this with your volume turned off if you don't want the 'analyst' to sway your viewpoint, because Alan Shearer and Ian Wright are commenting on the incidents based on their views.

Incident #1: Rooney was fouled. Referee held back his whistle. Rooney furious and aimed a kick at Carvalho's groin. Referee trying to figure out the punishments. Cronaldo ran some 30-40 yards just to say 'DID YOU SEE THAT?', claimed himself. Rooney still really p*ssed, had a go at Cronaldo and shoved him. Referee saw that and straight away, he asked Rooney over and presented him the red card.

Drogballs' View: Cronaldo is not at all at fault for running over to where the incident took place. Anyone would have done that, maybe even Rooney himself if the one got hit in the groin is Terry instead. BUT, the talking point would be what Cronaldo said to the referee that made Rooney so p*ssed. Nobody knows, only Roon, Ron and the Ref. And I still stand by my views on whether Rooney did the stomp intentionally. To me, it was not an accident. He clearly aimed a kick at his groin. You could disagree of course.

Incident #2: Rumoured that right after Rooney was sent off, Cronaldo was seen 'winking' at his Portugese team mates. A short and swift one.

Drogballs' View: I'm not too sure about this really. Who knows when did they shot this 'wink', maybe it was shot at another time which we cannot be sure of. Maybe it doesn't mean anything but just a little wink at his friends on the bench. Who knows? Only Cronaldo of course.

Incident #3: Before Kick-off, Pauleta was talking to Rooney in the centre circle. As Cronaldo approaches, Pauleta pointed at him and Cronaldo walked behind Rooney and gave him a light headbutt from behind and gave a stare. Rooney was surprised and seemed to be taken aback.

Drogballs' View: This has to be the more controversial one out of the three. We know they are ManYoo team mates and should be good friends. And we know that when it comes to playing for national team, usually players will forget about the club status due to the fact that they are wearing the nation's crest instead of the club's. But is there a need for Cronaldo to do that? I see that as every bit of an intentional wind up and to intimidate Rooney, whom we all know is short-fused. The stare by Cronaldo at the end says it all.

Who's fault? YOU decide.

I HATE YOUR F*ING TEAM !!

WARNING (EXPLICIT LANGUAGE) - Watch Only If You're Above 16....

This is taken from one of the TV serials in UK. Well, don't watch it if you're a ManYoo fan of course...You're not gonna like it...

THE BLAME GAME: WHO'S FAULT? WHO'S NOT?

LATEST - BECKHAM STEPS DOWN FROM ENGLAND CAPTAINCY
Who's your preferred captain? Gerrard? Terry? Or even Gary Neville? Mail me your comments please!

The Reason To Their Ultimate Downfall?

After every World Cup failures, the nation's press will inevitably pick a certain player or object to be the nation's scapegoat. In 1998, it was Beckham for his senseless kick at Diego Simeone. In 2002 it was David Seaman, for letting Ronaldinho's 'cross' into the back of the net. This time round, who will get the blame? Who will be the ultimate scapegoat and the talking point for the next 4 years?

Before talking about blames and finger-pointing, let's sum up the match and their performances.

England - Unimpressive in the first game. Uninpressive in the second again. They played quite well for around.. 20 minutes against Sweden, which they drew and beat Ecuador undersevedly from Beckham's free-kick. Yesterday was seriously one of their best performance in this World Cup and sad to say, it's stil quite sh*t. There was no drive and excitement in the team, some players looked jaded, out of form and disinterested.

Portugal - Some sort of an England Mark II, but with some better performance. Their 1-0 win over Angola was not their best. Improved in the game against Iran and Mexico. Never seemed to played football in the match against Netherlands although they did get the all important goal.

Anyway yesterday's game wasn't the best to watch as expected. Both European teams are good in defence and their coaches likes to employ the 4-5-1 formation. The chances for both teams are little and both team showed a lack of creativity in midfield. Portugal sorely missed Deco while England....is still England. BUT England does showed a little spark of life early on with majority of the possesion. They passed the ball well and did create some chances. But the possesion was not turned into goal and the England players looked a little discouraged by that.

Losing on penalties yet again. Is this a curse that is waiting to be lifted by the English? It seemed to haunt them for far too long until it has become a joke. Let's hope that the English players will not let it happen again and break this curse once and for all.

WHO'S FAULT IS IT ANYWAY?

CRISTIANO RONALDO?

It's easy to find a scapegoat from the other team instead of your own isn't it. It's a human nature of pointing fingers at the other players instead of finding out what's wrong. I've read lots of letters, posts and threads on the matter regarding CRonaldo and most of the English fans are incensed by what he did. Okay now let me reiterate to you what happened.

Firstly, before the match kicked off, CRonaldo went to do a 'headbutt' on his ManYoo team-mate, Wayne Rooney. He seemed a little bermused, a little smile on his face, but looks unsure what's going on.

Next, when Rooney stomped on Ricardo Carvalho's 'delicate' part, CRonaldo ran some 40 yards all the way to where the incident happened and 'waved an imaginary card' at the referee, signalling to him to give Wayne Rooney the red card. The fuming Rooney, unable to control his temper, gave CRonaldo a little push and the referee gave Rooney the red card.

Lastly, and the most interesting point is that right after Rooney was pictured walking out of the pictch with the killer stare at the Portugese bench, CRonaldo was caught WINKING at the Portugese bench, that many interpreted as him saying 'JOB DONE' to his pals and coach.

Oh, and also not to forget, he booked himself a place in the English lore book with that very winning penalty, taking it cool as a cucumber. Many reports I've read today, including those of Martin Jol and Alan Shearer threw blames at CRonaldo for his antics on the field. Should we blame him for England's defeat?

Drogballs' Verdict: I think he shouldn't take up the full blame, but he is partly wrong too. Where is your sportsmanship, Mr Ronaldo. Since when is it gentleman to get your fellow professionals sent off by waving the card and trying to influence the referee? And to add fuel to fire, he's your team mate in ManYoo dammit. How on earth is he gonna face Rooney, Rio and Neville is none of my business, but seriously, his ManYoo future is in doubt. But that sent off doesn't warrant England's downfall. It's more than meets the eye....

FRANK LAMPARD?

This guy pictured above have been diabolical from start to end. Anyone with a little knowledge of football WILL and CAN see that. He's taken around 24 shots at goal guess what, ONE BIG FAT ZERO in return. And t think that he's the first taker for the penalty is beyond reasons. If the prevous 24 shots from everywhere couldn't go in, what makes SVEN thinks that the one from 12 yards out is going in? This guy is bullshit and should have been drop after that performance against Paraguay.

Drogballs' Verdict: Again, he's been lacklustre, or maybe worst than lacklustre, but he too should not shoulder all the blames. It wasn't just him that has been bad this time round. England have players with big reputations, like Gerrard, Joe Cole and Beckham. But seriously, how many of those have set the World Cup alight? None is the answer.

WAYNE ROONEY?

He did what Beckham did in the 1998 World Cup by getting himself sent off stupidly and is now in danger of becoming the ultimate scapegoat of the disastrous English exit. To be honest, that stomp on Carvalho was every bit intentional, as he was not off balanced and if you look again, his eyes were aimed at the spot where he aimed a kick at and deservedly sent off ONLY FOR THAT ACTION ITSELF.

BUT LET ME EXPLIN MYSELF. Could the stomp on Carvalho took place, IF the referee is a little more competent and see the fouls even before he aimed a kick at Carvalho? I believe so. The referee should have blown the whistle BEFORE the incident took place, where the dirty Carvalho was all over Rooney and the referee just stood there, as if he's there to catch Rooney's fault instead of the Portugese. Of course I'm not saying its a FIFA conspiracy, but aren't you people a little baffled by this?

Drogballs' Verdict: He's young, and rash. He looks to me to have more brawn than brain. But that doesn't mean he is a total complete idiot which go around stomping on people's b*llocks. He was right to be frustrated and agitated by the way the referee had handled the game, but he is still NOT matured enough to be able to control his temperament and therefore it led to the red card. To me, he has done his best, considering he just returned from injury and only beginning to look sharp. But of course he needs to take a little of the blame for his retaliation.

SVEN GORAN-ERIKSSON?

This Swede earns around 5 million pounds a year and you expects him to do his job well. But looks to me like he's totally lost it since day one, or maybe even before that, when he picked the squad. First, he made the biggest mistake ever by picking Theo Walcott instead of more established players like Darren Bent, Jermain Defoe or even Dean Ashton. He personally confessed that he didn't watch Walcott play before and therefore it's more of a gamble than anything else. So what happened to Walcott? He made a grand total of ZERO appearances for England and will be flying home with his morale battered. THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST DECISION MADE BY AN INTERNATIONAL MANAGER, EVER.

Secondly, his tactical awareness. How much does he know about football tactics actually. I know I'm not in any position to comment, but how on earth can someone that earns THAT much amount of money turns a group of good players into amatuers and screwed up big time in the World Cup is beyond me. His constant tinkering doesn't help and his obsession with the 4-5-1 formation is hindering the team. He's been in charge of the England set up from 2001 till now and HE DOESN'T KNOW WHO HIS BEST 11 PLAYERS ARE. And how on earth can players gel together as a unit if the manager insist on changing and chopping ever game? Why do you bring Carragher on in the last minute JUST to let him take a penalty? This has to be the most dubious substitution in any World Cup or even football matches. Constant sticking with Lampard throughout the WC when his form is obviously bad is another of his famed crappy decisions.

Lastly, we know Lampard had been sh*t. SO WHY DID HE PICK LAMPARD, OF ALL PLAYERS, TO TAKE THE ALL IMPORTANT, FIRST KICK IN THE PENALTY SHOOTOUT? Some of you might have seen the reaction of the English players when Lampard missed the shot, Gerrard seemed like he was totally shattered and knew that it was coming, that England's not gonna make it through. It destroyed the belief and spirit in the English camp.

*ADDED ON (July 3rd): Sometimes I wondered if he talked the right sense into the players or not. Did he actually prepare the players through the games and mentally prepare them for games? It seemed like sometimes England is 11 individual players passing through motions and utterly unsure of their role in the squad and looks confused as ever. Wayne Rooney asked to played in the lone striker role is a HUGE mistake and because of his isolation from the rest of the squad, he was agitated and became really pissed due to his will to win games. What does he tell the players during the half time break against Sweden, when they were good in the first half then it all fell apart after the break? Robbie Fowler said in his autobiography that Svennis said NOTHING during the half time break in that 2-1 lost against Brazil 4 years ago.

Drogballs' Verdict: He'll have to carry the majority of the blame, because he have been wrong since the day he picked the squad. Nothing's turned out right for this man and he doesn't warrant the 5 million a year pay at all. He might be the manager with the 2nd best winning record in England's history, but he just couldn't bring England into a higher level and it's a sad fact, as he has brought the golden generation of England down the drain with him and his dubious decisions.

Agree with me or not, this is just my thoughts. Of course I hope you agree, but we all have different views. So why not share the thoughts we me by email or whatever means.
