WORST LIVERPOOL PLAYER IN RECENT TIMES?

Have To Be:

El-Hadji "Spitter" Diouf
The One That Wore Our No. '9' And Doesn't Score!

As a decade-long Liverpool fan, I didn't get much chance to see them in action until around 2001, when I was kinda old enough to really understand the game and of course, having it on TV week in, week out was one of the reason. So if you would ask me who's our wrst player in recent times, then no doubt, it's Diouf.

God, how I hate that w**ker. But it's not his fault for flopping big time at Anfield, because he's just sh*t to be honest. Here's some reasons why I think he's the worst of the lot.

- Firstly, he costed around 10 million pounds. Boll**ks! I thought at most he's worth 10 dollars! Another great signing from Gerard "turn the corner" Houllier!

-
Season 2003/04, he became the first Liverpool player to wear the no. 9 shirt and not score a goal for 14 months, or in a word, the entire season. He's the first for almost 50 years. Fantastic record!

-
His behaviour on and off the field were disgraceful. Okay wait, it's wrong to use 'were', because he still IS an idiot. He can't stop spitting at fans and have a habit of getting caught spitting every fortnight.

-
As a Bolton player, he scored against us last season and his goal celebration makes me hate him more than any other Mancs, Bitters or Chelscum players!

We all know how rotten some of our signings are in recent times. There's always a Josemi for a Steve Finnan, a Pellegrino for a Hyypia. But there you go, just some of my thoughts. Agree? or Disagree? Write to me!

GREETINGS FROM SWITZERLAND !

Anyway Liverpool fans in Singapore, they'll be playing in a friendly match against German side, Kaiserslautern tonight and if you've got Starhub Cable, then switch it to SuperSports Chnl 21 at 11.30pm. Ooo! Can't wait to see them in action after so long!

THE REASON WHY LAMPARD WAS TRYING SO HARD DURING THE WC

According to PopBitch:

'Wonder why Frank Lampard was shooting for goal so desperately for England this summer? This could explain it. We hear from an insider that a payment of 95,000 pounds was made to the bank account of a Mr J. Terry, who had apparently bet his Chelsea team mate that he'd fail to score in England's group games. And for all Lampard's trying, he had to cough up.'

Great! Mr Terry, please, please bet with Lampard that he will not score throughout the entire 06/07 EPL season!

FERGIE, YOU GOT MERK'D

Just a random rant, don't worry.

Okay anyway I think most of you might know that Sir Fergie have decided to let his steed named Ruud van Nistelrooy to join the 'best club in the world', Real Madrid for a massive.... £10 million.

While on the other hand, he said he'll not panic buy as the season is starting real soon, with only 6 recognisable midfielders fighting for 4 places.

But what he did, was to throw a massive £18million bid on Michael Carrick of Tottenham, whom joined the club 2 years ago for .. wait for it...

£2.75million.

So, what did he do during the 2 years, to warrant a price increase of 9 folds? No idea, man. If I'm a ManYoo fan now, I'll be worried. Their most prolific goalscorer in recent times, Ruud, left on a cheap and now they're lacking some firepower up front. Saha, Rooney? Fair enough. Solksjaer, Smith and Rossi? Chelski must be peeing in their pants! Their interest in Torres might have waned as well, after Torres himself saying he'll stay at Athletico for another year.

Maybe with Carrick, their midfield will look more solid on paper. But still, Giggs and Scholes looked like they're past their best while Richardson, I just don't rate him. John O'Shea? Even ManYoo fans gave him the nickname of O'Shit. CryNaldo? Nevermind, the English fans hates him and they're left with Park Ji-sung, who's a pretty alright player, but can't finish to save his life.

To be honest, I'm more worried about Spurs than ManYoo. But they have this strange habit of them becoming stronger when people starts to doubt them. Except the one they lost to Benfica of course!

£18 Million for Carrick? Sir, you're having a laugh.

CLASSIC BANNER IN THE MAKING!

Uhm, in case you didn't know about the alledged story... John Terry's mum, uhm, and Jamie Carragher's brothers..uhm. You know? HAHAHA

'POOR' LAMPARD TO LIVE ON BREAD AND BUTTER ALONE

No, wait.

He's being paid a mere
£100K PER WEEK (294,103 SING DOLLARS).

Maybe too much bread and butter for you ain't good, Frank....

Still, he's complaining! From Football365's famous sarcastic editor:

The unfortunate Frank Lampard has been told by Chelski that he will be forced to endure life's daily obstacles with the financial clout of a mere £100,000-a-week.
The pauper had been hoping to secure a new contract with Chelski that would put him on parity with the club's highest earners. Both of the Premiership champions major summer signings, Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko, are reputedly earning £130,000-a-week.

However, Lampard's hopes have been dashed with Chelski displaying little indication to discuss a new deal with the England midfielder who has three years remaining on his present contract.

'Steve Kutner, the England midfield player's agent, claimed before the World Cup that a new deal would be in place before the start of the Barclays Premiership season but substantive talks have yet to take place,' reports The Times.

Chelski have, however, found time to offer William Gallas a new four-year contract.

Drogballs: Cracks showing up in the evil Russian empire? Certainly. Duff left for the greener pastures up north. Drogba sounded like he misses his mam a lot and Crespo thinks that the yatch, houses and money that Abramovich throws at him can't buy back his love for Italy. Let's see how good Mourinho is at juggling with the multi million squad and continue to be the clown of the English Premiership.

PENNANT SIGNS ON DOTTED LINE

Liverpool have today completed the signing of Jermaine Pennant from Birmingham on a four year contract.

The 23 year old right sided midfielder officially put pen to paper on his Anfield deal this afternoon after completing a medical.

He will fly out to Switzerland to join up with his new team-mates at their week long training camp.

Pennant's arrival marks the end of manager Rafael Benitez's long search to bring in a right winger and he could make his Reds' debut against Kaiserslautern this weekend.

Pennant started his career with Notts County before moving to Arsenal for £2 million in 1999. He was unable to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger's first team and had loan spells with Watford, Leeds United and Birmingham before completing a permanent move to St Andrews last summer.

He becomes Rafael Benitez's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Craig Bellamy, Mark Gonzalez, Fabio Aurelio and Gabriel Paletta.

Pennant will wear the number 16 shirt at Anfield.

Drogballs: Maybe Liverpool has truly become the halfway house for footballers who had bad past and in search for a platform for them to prove themselves once again. He might have a troubled past just like Bellamy, but I believe under Benitez's guidance and care, they might just blossom and step up their game. The players would also be dying to prove themselves because of the chance given to them by Liverpool and they'll be hungry for glory. They'll have a point to prove and of course, to impress fans.

Might not be a big signing, but sometimes, little things matters the most. HURRAY! We have finally gotten a bloody right-winger!

PENNANT A MEDICAL AWAY

Jermaine Pennant To Sign For Reds Within 48 Hours:-

Jermaine Pennant is currently undergoing a medical at Liverpool with a view to completing a £6.2million move from Birmingham.

The former England Under-21 winger was believed to have travelled to Merseyside on Tuesday night for talks, and is expected to fly out to Switzerland if the medical and contract details are completed.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez took his squad to their usual training camp on Tuesday, and 23-year-old Pennant is likely to join them once the details of his move have been completed.

His debut could come in Saturday's friendly against Kaiserslautern in Liechtenstein.

Carson & Anderson Signs New Deal:-

Liverpool duo Scott Carson and Paul Anderson have signed new improved contracts with the Anfield club.

Carson, 20, England's third goalkeeper at the World Cup, has extended his contract by two years to pledge his future to the club until 2011.

Winger Anderson, 18, part of Liverpool's FA Youth Cup-winning side last season, has extended his deal by three years - taking him to 2010. Anderson joined Liverpool from Hull in January after a successful trial. He has figured in both of Liverpool's first-team friendlies this season and scored an impressive goal against Wrexham earlier this month.

Carson, who had a spell on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season, is likely to be Jose Reina's understudy this campaign.

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos Set To Be Snapped Up:-

From SkySports:

Liverpool trialist Lazaros Christodoulopoulos is set to sign a three-year contract, according to Greek sources. We revealed on Monday that Christodoulopoulos was on trial at Anfield, but he has obviously wasted little time in impressing.

Greek reports now claim that Christodoupoulos has agreed a three-year contract with The Reds and he has already passed a medical. Christodoupoulos was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika and coach Rafa Benitez has obviously been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old.

Christodoupoulos has a get-out clause of just over £130,000 so Liverpool have no doubt decided that the risk in taking on the young striker for such a nominal fee is not a big one.

Drogballs: Certainly, a busy, busy week before the teams set off for their annual training camp. Signing players early actually ensures that the new players can get to meet their new team mate and know each other better. It's essential for team building as time is most likely the essence here as Liverpool continue their quest to capture the English league title that has been eluding us for more than a decade.

The signing of Pennant is not as exciting as the Alves one, but I'm sure Rafa knows what he is doing and what player is he playing for at 6 million, which isn't exactly cheap. But as a lifelong Liverpool fan, Pennant was the player that put in the most number of crosses in the Premiership last season and it's something we should be excited for, as this will probably means that Gerrard will now revert back to his central-attacking midfield role. The lack of delivery and width in recent seasons might now be solved with him and Mark Gonzalez on the flanks, which they'll certainly inject loads of pace into the team.

The Carson deals looks to me like, Jerzey Dudek will be gone quite soon, sadly. It reinstates that Carson will most likely be our second choice keeper, behind Pepe Reina while Dudek might be the name in the deal for Dirk Kuyt.

The other Greek striker which I've already memorised his name, hmmm, we'll wait and see if they'll officially unveil both of them together.

A MEMORABLE MOMENT.....

O, Carroll, are you a mind-trick master in disguise? If you think the goal Luis Garcia scored against Chelski was the 'goal that never was', then maybe you're wrong all this while. And he still had the cheeks to peep at the linesman!

"1 OR 2 MORE PLAYERS TO JOIN BY THIS WEEK"

Expect signings by end of this week, before the squad leaves for their training camp in Austria. It's always this time of the year when there are no football, the transfer rumours are all over the place and you don't really know which is truth and which are the smoke screens. But here, Rafa promised something. Taken from Liverpoolfc.tv:

Rafael Benitez is hopeful of adding "one or two" new faces to his Liverpool squad before the end of the week. The Reds continue to be linked with a number of players from home and abroad, but Benitez is adamant he'll only pay what he considers to be the going rate for his transfer targets.

"We are continuing to work to bring in more players, but it's difficult to say where we are at this moment, it depends on two or three factors," said the Liverpool manager.

"We are closer with some players, but I'm not the kind of manager who will say 'I want this player and I'll pay £20m to get him' if his value is only £10m. We don't have the money for doing this and we have a responsibility.

"We will try to sign the best players for us with the money we have.
"When you have experience, you know it's the same every year. Sometimes you have to wait until the last minute.

"I'm really happy with the squad now, but we will continue working and I think this week we can make one or two signings. If not, we can wait a little longer."

Alright, news were flying round saying that Birmingham City have accepted a £6 million bid for Jermaine Pennant and the deal will be done as soon as he passes the medical. But now, let's take a look at the 'POSSIBILITIES' and players that could join the ranks hopefully within this week, or maybe soon to come.

Jermaine Pennant (Birmingham City) - As mentioned, if the papers are right about it, it looks to me a dead cert to join us. £6million sounds a little too steep for my liking, especially for Pennant. But why not give him a chance, since he's a Liverpool fan.

Verdict: Most likely to join us among the lot.

Simao Sabrosa (Benfica) - He was due to sign last season, but then the deal went dead and he never came. But the speculation was on again recently as we desperately searched for the right-winger. Again rumour has it that he'll sign for us this week but I think it's just a smoke screen, to send a false signal to draw out the real target we are after, whom I think is Pennant himself.

Verdict: Quite unlikely I think. But the other team that was competing with us for his signature, Valencia, has already sounded out interest in Cristiano Ronaldo.

Daniel Alves (Sevilla) - Benitez admires this Brazillian a lot, and I actually wanted him to be at Liverpool more than anyone of the players mentioned. He's versatile (can play at right-back and right-wing) and his performance last season was consistant and shone in the UEFA Cup final match against Boro. But Sevilla are holding Liverpool to a ransom at £12million and Rafa doesn't like it.

Verdict: Seemed like the deal is dead. But let's hope he IS the one we're after instead.

Dirk Kuyt [Pronounce - Cowt] (Feyenoord) - Seemed like he's the only plausible striker that will sign for Liverpool now. There has been rumours about Trezeguet, but we have been watching the Dutch striker for quite a period of time already. Rumoured that the deal will cost around 5million plus a player exchange of Jerzy Dudek and Jan Kromkamp.

Verdict: Looks highly likely, let's wait and see.

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos (PAOK) - Gosh, that took me quite a while to type that name out. A hah! Bet you didn't know about this. This striker actually rumoured to have left the club's training camp and actually came to Liverpool. Papers and net rumours saying that now his club, PAOK, will get Liverpool into the courts for 'tapping up'. But apparently, he chose to left himself and Liverpool offered a trial. He's a Greek (you shoul know this judging by his weird name) striker that has been pretty impressive in domestic front as well as scoring a few goals in UEFA Cup. Undoubtedly one of the most promising Greek prospect in recent years, according to reports.

Verdict: He has a 136k release clause and maybe Liverpool might want t activate it. But the tapping up matter might slow it all down a little. Again, wait and see.

No worry, guys. I'll keep you updated with the latest.

THE CRONALDO TOY!

Hahaha!

DELUDED MANYOO FAN....

Went on the F365 forums and as usual, debating on whether Darren Fletcher is a legend or just pure sh*te. And a line of words caught my attention...

If Fletcher continues to improve and fulfills his potential then he will be one of the best players of his generation.

I swear I nearly choked on the coffee I was drinking...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I know he single-headedly won the tie for ManYoo against Chelsea, but seriously, take that red-tinted glass off your head and watch him play carefully.

REDS TRIUMP OVER CREWE

Pre-Season Friendly

LIVERPOOL 1 - 0 CREWE ALEXANDRA

Scorer:
LIV - Craig Lindfield (18min);

A debut goal from young striker Craig Lindfield was enough to seal another pre-season victory for Liverpool as Crewe Alexandra were beaten by the only goal at a packed Gresty Road on Saturday afternoon.

Summer signings Fabio Aurelio and Mark Gonzalez also made their first appearances in Liverpool colours, but it was Lindfield, the Reds' top scorer in last season's successful FA Youth Cup campaign, who stole the show.

The 17-year old Wirral born striker marked his first senior start for the club in style with a cracking strike after 18 minutes and it proved enough to seal Liverpool's second friendly win in a week.

Rafael Benitez again shuffled his pack as preparations for the new season continued and made eleven substitutions during the course of the match.

Match-winner Lindfield played the opening half only, as did Aurelio, who settled well and showed some good touches on the left of midfield. Fellow new arrival Gonzalez appeared after the break and also quickly made an impression, first with a headed goal-line clearance and then an angled shot that flew narrowly over.

Gabriel Paletta was introduced at the break and he once again impressed with some solid tackling.

Liverpool: Dudek, Traore, O'Donnell, Hyypia (captain), Finnan, Aurelio, Diao, Zenden, Anderson, Fowler, Lindfield.

Subs - Martin, Paletta, Riise, Potter, Peltier, Gonzalez, Sinama Pongolle, Bellamy, Hobbs, Sissoko, Antwi

Drogballs: Not too bad, again, not the drubbing everyone expected. But it all worked pretty well and players given a run out. Craig Lindfield, the striker who was the top scorer for the FA Youth Cup scored a nicely taken goal and came out with a man-of-the-match performance. Heard from the forums that the movement before the goal was great as Robbie Fowler was at hand to chip in yet another wonderful assist with a back-heel.
