Jermaine Pennant To Sign For Reds Within 48 Hours:-

Jermaine Pennant is currently undergoing a medical at Liverpool with a view to completing a £6.2million move from Birmingham.

The former England Under-21 winger was believed to have travelled to Merseyside on Tuesday night for talks, and is expected to fly out to Switzerland if the medical and contract details are completed.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez took his squad to their usual training camp on Tuesday, and 23-year-old Pennant is likely to join them once the details of his move have been completed.

His debut could come in Saturday's friendly against Kaiserslautern in Liechtenstein.

Carson & Anderson Signs New Deal:-

Liverpool duo Scott Carson and Paul Anderson have signed new improved contracts with the Anfield club.

Carson, 20, England's third goalkeeper at the World Cup, has extended his contract by two years to pledge his future to the club until 2011.

Winger Anderson, 18, part of Liverpool's FA Youth Cup-winning side last season, has extended his deal by three years - taking him to 2010. Anderson joined Liverpool from Hull in January after a successful trial. He has figured in both of Liverpool's first-team friendlies this season and scored an impressive goal against Wrexham earlier this month.

Carson, who had a spell on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season, is likely to be Jose Reina's understudy this campaign.

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos Set To Be Snapped Up:-

From SkySports:

Liverpool trialist Lazaros Christodoulopoulos is set to sign a three-year contract, according to Greek sources. We revealed on Monday that Christodoulopoulos was on trial at Anfield, but he has obviously wasted little time in impressing.

Greek reports now claim that Christodoupoulos has agreed a three-year contract with The Reds and he has already passed a medical. Christodoupoulos was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika and coach Rafa Benitez has obviously been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old.

Christodoupoulos has a get-out clause of just over £130,000 so Liverpool have no doubt decided that the risk in taking on the young striker for such a nominal fee is not a big one.

Drogballs: Certainly, a busy, busy week before the teams set off for their annual training camp. Signing players early actually ensures that the new players can get to meet their new team mate and know each other better. It's essential for team building as time is most likely the essence here as Liverpool continue their quest to capture the English league title that has been eluding us for more than a decade.

The signing of Pennant is not as exciting as the Alves one, but I'm sure Rafa knows what he is doing and what player is he playing for at 6 million, which isn't exactly cheap. But as a lifelong Liverpool fan, Pennant was the player that put in the most number of crosses in the Premiership last season and it's something we should be excited for, as this will probably means that Gerrard will now revert back to his central-attacking midfield role. The lack of delivery and width in recent seasons might now be solved with him and Mark Gonzalez on the flanks, which they'll certainly inject loads of pace into the team.

The Carson deals looks to me like, Jerzey Dudek will be gone quite soon, sadly. It reinstates that Carson will most likely be our second choice keeper, behind Pepe Reina while Dudek might be the name in the deal for Dirk Kuyt.

The other Greek striker which I've already memorised his name, hmmm, we'll wait and see if they'll officially unveil both of them together.
