Sometimes football is just a weird old game, with luck playing much part in a team's victory, especially in cup competitions. But this is why we all love the beautiful game, the drama, the tension and the emotions. It's sad to see Zinedine Zidane's last touch being a shameful headbutt on Marco Materazzi, who clearly tried to wind him up and succeeded in it. But as a captain and as a legendary player who's so experienced, why do you need to resort to such action especially in a World Cup final game. So, so disappointing for him. The irony is that they wanted to shot a documentary of him and his final game before retirement and it turned out to be a nightmare.
But give credits to the Italians, defensive and plucky they might be, they deserved every bit of it. No teams have won a cup without luck on their side and you could safely say lady luck have been smiling on them since day one. A great team which is superbly organised by Fabio Cannavaro and a team with character, going one down and getting back in the game.

Let me congratulate Italy on their success and enjoy it! Trials and difficulties back at home, but this will surely bring much joy to the Italians, who are going through a difficult period of time.

What a dissapointing way to your career.If I can try to it in perspective I had friends and even my mom saw the highlights on the local news and asked me about it,not the fact that Italy won the world cup in a shootout,but how Zidane got sent off.Almost heading in the golden goal only to be saved by the best keeper in the world to getting sent off.I don't want to bash him,but WTF was he thinking?I feel sorry for him he's going to alot of heat for what he did.It's been a bad football year so far for Henry first losing in the CL final now this.Looking foward to 2010 world cup I'd have to say Germany will be very tough to beat and if there was a time for an African nation to go far it will be in South Africa,Ghana anyone?perhaps Ivory Coast only time will tell.

probably got into a heat of things and he's a human after all. Not surprised if Materazzi said something about his race or even his love ones just to wind him up. Yes, disappointing. I'll comment more on that later so stay tune.
